Ayse Ercumen: I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources and core faculty in the Global WaSH Cluster. I am also associate faculty in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering. I was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. I have a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from MIT, an MS in Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley, and an MPH and PhD in Epidemiology from UC Berkeley. My research combines tools from these disciplines to study environmental transmission of infectious disease and evaluate interventions to improve child health.

Caitlin Niven
Origin: Durham, NC
Degrees: Pursuing MS, graduated with BS in Public Health Biology from Elon University.
Research Interests: Environmental transmission of STH and waterborne pathogens.
Interesting Fact: I went to cooking school before finishing undergrad.
Jesse Contreras
Origin: Eustace, TX
Degrees: Pursuing postdoctoral degree. PhD, MPH Epidemiology from the University of Michigan
Research Interests: Applying concepts from political ecology, environmental justice, and social epidemiology to the study of sanitation, wastewater reuse, and global health.
My first job was cleaning concrete tools for my dad at around age six, and I was paid $1 an hour.
